David Penfound is afkomstig uit Hampshire in het Verenigd Koninkrijk en ontdekte al op jonge leeftijd een talent voor kunst. Oorspronkelijk geïnspireerd door fantasiekunst, ontwikkelde David een specialiteit voor het maken van fantasierijke kleurrijke kunstwerken die alle genres bestrijken. Van traditionele kunst waagde David zich vervolgens aan visuele effecten voor film en tv en werkte hij met enkele van de grootste namen in de productie van visuele effecten.
